The PCL Knee Retractor System is a collection of high-leverage instruments designed to isolate and protect the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and collateral structures during knee arthroplasty. Forged from medical-grade German stainless steel, these specialized retractors utilize targeted prong geometries and integrated tracking straps to maintain continuous, hands-free joint distraction.

SKU: G32-580
Availability: In Stock

Collateral Ligament Retractor 8-inch features an extended long-prong tip and a 21mm blade width, optimized for reaching deep behind the tibial shelf. Forged from German steel and paired with a tracking strap, it delivers secure, hands-free posterior containment in medium-to-large joint spaces.

SKU: G13-805
Availability: In Stock

Collateral Ligament Retractor featuring a broad 27mm blade width and a low-profile short prong, this 8-inch retractor is designed to distribute leverage forces over a wide surface area. Its integrated strap mechanism ensures stable, slip-free soft tissue retraction during standard knee replacements.

SKU: G32-590
Availability: In Stock

This 8 1/4-inch retractor features a narrow 14mm blade width and a short prong tip, making it ideal for tight joint spaces. Forged from premium German stainless steel, it offers exceptional tissue protection and targeted access without impinging on delicate collateral ligaments.

SKU: G13-780
Availability: In Stock

Designed for minimally invasive surgery (MIS), this 10" extended retractor features an 8.5mm prong width and a mid-range 34mm blade. Its modified low-profile geometry allows for deep joint access and hands-free leverage through highly restricted, muscle-sparing surgical incisions.

SKU: G13-900
Availability: In Stock

Prong Collateral Ligament Retractor featuring an expansive 57mm blade width and an 8.5mm prong gap, this heavy-duty 10" retractor is built for maximal soft tissue clearing. Its robust German-forged construction gives surgical teams the necessary surface area to safely hold back massive muscle walls during complex revision knee reconstructions.

Specifically designed to manage the deep, high-tension boundaries of total knee arthroplasty (TKA), the PCL Knee Retractor System maximizes exposure while strictly protecting vital posterior neurovascular structures. The specialized pronged blades slide securely behind the tibial plateau, anchoring firmly against the bone cortex to prevent intraoperative slipping. By combining varied prong configurations with heavy-duty stabilizing straps, this system enables uniform, hands-free soft-tissue containment.

Key Features:

Anatomical Prong Configurations: Available in short, long, and wide varieties to adapt precisely to diverse patient joint sizes.
Integrated Tension Straps: Facilitates stable, hands-free retraction to reduce assistant hand fatigue and streamline workflows.
German Stainless Steel: Forged for extreme structural rigidity and lifetime autoclave durability.

Uses & Applications:

Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA): Safely subluxates the tibia anteriorly to expose the posterior cruciate ligament and tibial plateau.
Posterior Capsule Clearance: Walls off the popliteal structures cleanly during osteophyte debridement or bone resections.
Revision Knee Reconstruction: Manages dense arthrofibrotic scar tissue walls to provide clear visual access to deep bone shelves.

Overall instrument length is 8” and feature Overall Blade Width is 21mm, and Prong Widths are 4.5mm | 12mm Gap | 4.5mm. It comes with a Long Prong with a Strap. These features make this instrument well-suited for multiple orthopedic surgeries.

A PCL Knee Retractor holds tissue open on its own using a locking or ratchet mechanism, so no assistant is needed to maintain exposure. A manual retractor, on the other hand, requires a surgical assistant to hold it in place throughout the procedure. This hands-free design gives the surgeon more control and keeps the operative field consistently clear without interruption.

Stainless steel is the most widely used material because it offers excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and withstands repeated sterilization cycles without degrading. Some retractors are made from titanium, which is lighter and MRI-compatible, making it a good choice when imaging is needed intraoperatively. Both materials are durable, easy to clean, and safe for long-term surgical use.

This knee retractors come in several configurations to match the needs of each procedure. The Long and Short Stub versions (PCL Length 8") work well for standard knee exposures, while the Single Prong option (PCL Length 8.25") suits tighter or more precise tissue retraction. For cases needing broader access, the Wide and Modified Wide versions (PCL Length 10") provide the extra reach required during complex or revision knee surgeries.

After use, the retractor should be rinsed immediately to remove blood and tissue debris, then cleaned using an enzymatic detergent and a soft brush to reach all joints and grooves. Once thoroughly washed and dried, it should be sterilized using steam autoclave following the manufacturer's recommended cycle parameters. Regular inspection for wear, corrosion, or damage should be part of every cleaning routine to ensure patient safety.

The surgeon adjusts tension by engaging the ratchet or locking mechanism in small, controlled increments rather than forcing the blades apart all at once. This gradual approach protects surrounding soft tissue, nerves, and blood vessels from unnecessary stress or injury. If resistance increases or tissue blanches, tension should be eased slightly and redistributed to maintain safe, effective exposure throughout the procedure.
