McGuire Corneal Scissors help ophthalmic surgeons perform precise incisions on the cornea during glaucoma and cataract surgeries. They solve issues of delicate tissue cutting by offering ultra-fine blades for minuscule, controlled corneal work.

McGuire variants feature slender, curved, and extremely sharp tips designed for sub-millimeter corneal tissue manipulation. These resolve problems of excess tissue trauma by delivering refined cutting accuracy.

They usually measure around 110-125 mm (approx. 4.3-5 inches) in blade length, designed to balance reach and visibility in deep ocular chambers. This standardized size prevents excessive leverage and improves ergonomics and surgical safety.

With proper sterilization, honing, and low-temperature autoclaving, they retain sharpness for dozens of delicate procedures. If neglected or exposed to corrosion, they dull quickly, creating the problem of tissue tearing and inefficient cuts.
