Lateral Fat Pad Retractor for TKR 10” Blade Width 41mm

SKU: G32-225
Availability: In Stock

The Lateral Fat Pad Retractor for Total Knee Replacement (TKR) features a specialized blade design that assists surgeons in retraction of soft tissues and lateral fat pad for effectively placing the TKR. Manufactured from German Stainless steel, the instrument is ideally used to expose the femur and tibia during knee arthroplasty surgeries

$464.94

This retractor's wide blade provides optimal support and stability, ensuring that the lateral fat pad is held securely out of the surgical field. Its smooth surface minimizes the risk of tissue trauma and offers a clearer view of the joint. The design promotes easy handling, enhancing the overall efficiency of the surgical procedure.

Key Benefits:

•   Enhanced Visibility: Offers unobstructed access to critical surgical areas

•   Minimal-Tissue Trauma: Ergonomic design protects delicate surrounding tissues

•   Robust Construction: Crafted from durable materials for consistent performance.

Additional Information

Material:Stainless Steel

A lateral fat pad retractor is primarily used in total knee replacement (TKR) surgeries to hold back the infrapatellar fat pad and surrounding soft tissue. It is an open surgery instrument and is not used in arthroscopic procedures, where purpose-built arthroscopic tools are required.

A 10-inch length gives the surgeon better reach and leverage, especially in deeper surgical fields or in patients with higher body mass where tissue layers are thicker. The extended shaft keeps the surgeon's hand further from the operative site, reducing interference and improving visibility. For TKR procedures specifically, this length strikes a practical balance between control and access without overcrowding the field.

This retractor is primarily designed for standard open TKR procedures. For minimally invasive TKR approaches, surgeons typically use purpose-built smaller retractors that are specifically designed for the limited incision technique.

The 41mm blade width distributes retraction force across a wider surface area, which reduces concentrated pressure on any single point of soft tissue. This design helps prevent tearing, bruising, or excessive stretching of the fat pad, capsule, and surrounding structures. Controlled, even retraction ultimately supports faster healing and lowers the risk of postoperative complications related to tissue trauma.

First, rinse off blood and debris immediately after use, then scrub with a soft brush and mild detergent. After cleaning, sterilize in an autoclave following hospital protocols. Proper care keeps the metal smooth and prevents corrosion or contamination.
