A PCL retractor is a surgical tool designed to gently hold back tissues around the knee’s posterior cruciate ligament. Surgeons use it to improve visibility and access during knee procedures. It helps protect surrounding structures while allowing precise work.

The 8-inch size offers a good balance of reach and control in most knee surgeries. It’s long enough to expose the surgical area without being cumbersome. Many surgeons find it fits comfortably in standard operating procedures.

For most routine PCL reconstruction and posterior knee exposure surgeries in adults, the 8-inch size works well and covers the majority of standard cases. However, in pediatric patients or complex revision procedures, a different length may give better results.
